Why I preach the Cross
Today is the Day of Salvation.
2Co 6:1-2 KJV - We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
I why Preach the Cross? I preach the Cross because today is the day of Salvation. Many people today believe that Salvation is saying a simple prayer or belonging to a church and attending on occasion. Many think that Jesus is just something you add to who you are as a person and as a Christian you just simply try to live a good decent life and help humanity when you can. Let me first start off by saying Christianity isn’t what we do, it is who we are, and we cannot remove or leave our Christianity at home any more than we can leave our skin color at home, it is who we are. Christianity is not about becoming a better person, it is about becoming a Crucified person, who by Faith, in the Cross, has died, been buried, and raised to newness of life, IN CHRIST. Rom 6:3-6 KJV - Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. You can’t begin to live the Resurrection life until you first live the Crucified life. Please understand what Paul is saying in this scripture. He is not talking about the work of Water Baptism. He is talking about the new Position one has once they received Christ as their Lord and Savior. We have been removed, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, from our position of being “IN ADAM” to “IN CHRIST”, we have been submersed INTO HIM and thus, Gal 2:20 KJV - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Hallelujah, It is no longer I, but Christ. That is the key to Victory and the Abundant life my friends, that is the secret. As long as it is “I”, we will never partake of all Christ died to give us, but if it is “Christ” then all He died to make possible is ours simply by our Faith in what He Finished at Calvary. Therefore how can a professing Christian live without guilt or conviction in sin. It should be an impossibility. Yes we aren’t’ perfect but we should strive to be, to be all Christ wants us to be. And again, by Faith in the Cross, God the Holy Spirit is doing the work to bring our condition up to our Glorious position. Rom 6:1-2, 7, 14 KJV - What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? ... For he that is dead is freed from sin. ... For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
The Old Man has been crucified, we are a New Creation IN CHRIST JESUS, we are SAVED. That is our position. By being placed IN CHRIST, we are justified, we are righteous. Gal 3:27 KJV - For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Baptism = again not water but the work of the Holy Spirit placing us INTO CHRIST.) But here is the kicker, even thou my position is perfect because I am IN CHRIST and His righteousness is my righteousness, my condition is not so much so. You see, we are Saved but we are also being Saved, ie Sanctified, or the process of God, through the Power of the Holy Spirit, by our Faith in the Finished Work of Christ to bring our condition up to our position. We are His workmanship and He only works on behalf of our Faith in the Cross. That is God’s will for your life, to be conformed into the image of His son, and the work is not ours to do for we cannot, but it is the work of the Spirit, who, again, works only based on our Faith being anchored in the Cross, the Finished Work.
2Co 3:17-18 KJV - Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
I preach the Cross because today is the day of Salvation and for many Christians, today is the day for you to be delivered and set free from the bondage of alcohol, nicotine, porn, anger, greed, lust, unforgivness, ect. Today is the day you begin to walk in the Abundant Victorious Life, not just a say-so-victory and a fake smile, but real Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory, no matter what life throws your way. Believe me, the Cross works, it is us who don’t. The greatest sin is not one those mentioned. The greatest sin is unbelief. Today is the day of Salvation.
God Bless, Bro. Scott.
