The Talking Donkey
Why I preach the Cross
Blog 1 06/11/2015
My father suggested to me some time ago to start a blog, so I have, called The Talking Donkey. The purpose of this blog is to help explain what the Message of the Cross, according to the Word of God, really is. Let me first start off by saying that my grammar and vocabulary skills are found lacking, so for that I apologize, probably one reason I like,
1Co 2:1-2 KJV - And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
As I began to write the Blog and answer the question on why I preach the Cross I realized after reaching over 6000 words that keeping it short and to the point was no easy task, so what will follow over the next few, days, weeks, and months will be part of one long blog, again, on “Why I preach the Cross.” One reason why I preach the Cross is because, we all, like Paul, need to be determined now more than ever in these last days, we need to take an account of our lives and ask ourselves, is our Faith anchored in Christ and His Finished Work, or are we trusting in something else. Are we trying of offer to God more than simple Faith in the Shed Blood of the Only Begotten, an offering of our own making? It is long overdue for the church to come back to this Glad Story of Calvary as its all sufficiency. Not only for Salvation but for every aspect of the Christian experience and walk. The modern church has left the Cross as the answer for what troubles man the most, and has turned instead to humanistic phycology, tradition, worldliness, ceremony, and commandments of men, to meet its needs, thus is goes without saying that we are definitely living in the days of the Laodicean Church, a church that is rich and has need of nothing, we are in the last church age before that trump sounds and the Lord calls His bride home. The Lord will always have a remnant, the true Church, the Bride of Christ.
Rev 19:7-8 KJV - Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Jer 23:3 KJV - And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
Rom 9:27 KJV - Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
Rom 11:5 KJV - Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of Grace.
Rev 3:14-22 KJV - And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
It goes without saying that today’s church needs to repent and come back to the only Truth God works in (Psa. 33:4). It has become a puffed-up prideful entity that thinks Gods way has come and gone, the bible is no longer relevant for today. Therefore it has raised up for itself teachers and hirelings who bow down for profit and give the hearers what the hearers what to hear. They are offering nothing more than a feel good emotional experience and calling it Christianity. 2Ti 4:3-4 KJV - For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. If this describes you the good news is, it isn’t too late, most of us have been there, giving the Lord nothing more than lip service, offering to the Lord our so called goodness, thinking God has to accept me because of all I do, but listen, it is time to repent, we are living in the last of the last days, time is running out. Much of this has happened because of the ignorance of the Word. And the simple reason is, when you have no understanding of the Cross of Christ, you will struggle to understand why God wrote what He wrote and what that means for humanity not only 6000 years ago, but for us today, Gen 3:15 KJV - And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. If you don’t read ever dot and tittle through the lens of the Cross then the Bible is at best a burden and struggle to you, offering little if anything to your life. Man’s problem has not changed, but the good news is, neither has God’s message, and that message is Christ and Him Crucified, The Atonement, The Cross, Calvary. Brothers and Sisters, “the Blood still sets men free”, but the first step you need to take is, REPENT.
I pray this Blog will be a blessing to you, please share it with your family and friends and “lets talk about Jesus.” I don’t claim to know it all, far from it. This is a simple Gospel but although simple we will never exhaust the Knowledge, Love, Grace, and Mercy of our Lord and Savior.
What a mighty God we serve
What a mighty God we serve
Angels bow before Him
Heaven and earth adore Him
What a mighty God we serve.
God Bless, Bro. Scott.
