Why I preach the Cross

How-to-do the What-to-do
So why preach the Cross? Because it is not just for the lost and unsaved, but just as much, if not more, for the Child of God. Most people would say the Bible was written mainly for the unsaved, but the truth is, it was mainly given of God to the Saint, it contains the Scarlet Tread of the Blood of the Cross from beginning to end always pointing the Sinner and Saint to the only Answer, the Sacrifice, the Blood of Christ, for the “Blood still sets men free.” The Word was written to show us how to live for the Lord and thus preaching the Cross teaches us “how-to-do the what-to-do.” It explains to us, the believer, how to live and grab ahold of all the Bible says is ours due to what Christ Finished at Calvary. Why preach the Cross, because man’s problem is his Sin Nature and his only answer is the Cross, who Jesus is and what He did, the two can never be separated, that’s the Cross as the Bible explains it. Man focuses too much on the external sins, such as Alcohol, nicotine, porn, gambling, and some on pride, anger, greed, etc, but the root of the problem, regardless of how it exposes itself is his sin dominated nature. The best the modern church can do today, with its humanistic Psychology, tradition, ceremony, and commandants of men, is to put lip stick on the pig. No matter how much you try to clean up the outward appearance it is still a pig. The Church needs to place its focus back on what troubles man the most, what is producing the ugly outward actions that get most of the attention, and that is his Sin Nature. If you want to keep the weed from coming back you have to kill it at the root. That’s what the Message of the Cross is all about, getting man to put his faith back into what saved him, Faith in Christ and His Finished Work. Then and only then can God the Holy Spirit began the reign and rule where sin once did.
Man must have a Lamb, without spot and blemish and the life of that Lamb must be given to settle the debt of sin, for the wages of sin is death. It is true that we are dying physically daily but we were born spiritually dead, due to the fall of Adam and Eve. Spiritual death is separation of our Creator. Thus in order to receive spiritual life we must believe on the Lord Jesus and become Born Again. Let me quickly say that we don’t go to Hell for sin, we go to Hell for rejecting God’s provision for sin, the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, who paid sin’s debt once and for all, at least for those who will believe. Therefore, now saved, we must all come to the place where we cry out with Paul, “Rom 7:24 KJV - O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” What you must understand is that Paul was here, in this scripture, a saved man who hated sin, Loved the Lord, and tried with all his heart to live for the Lord but only to fail time and time again succumbing to the temptations of the old man. Just because one is saved does not automatically remove sins dominion, and once saved God does not impart to you a super will power. Most professing Christians are still dominated by their sin nature because of their lack of understanding of the Finished Work. Does this describe your walk with God? It sure did for me. Like I said earlier, I thought my faith was in Cavalry but yet I was failing time and time again and growing more and more discourage about to just walk away from my Salvation. And Why, because nobody told me how to live for the Lord, nobody around had any understanding of the full message of the Cross. They would tell me, as I mention in the blog previous to this, “you just need to try harder, you need to pray more, read you Bible more, fast more, ect. But what was so wrong with that, was I was turning that which is good and right into a Law, removing myself from the power of Grace and placing my Faith on what I was doing. Remember, the Holy Spirit can only operate on ones Faith in the proper object of Faith which is the Cross. Since I removed my Faith from the Cross, although something I would have denied at the time, I was left to my own demise, not having the power or strength to overcome the wrong I was doing. I was where Paul was in, “Rom 7:18 KJV - For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” He says, “how to perform that which is good I find not,” this is what describes most of today’s church, it thinks it has the answer, but if the answer is not faith in Christ and Him Crucified then it is not of God and it will not do you any good. Many things the church offers today sounds good, appeals to the flesh and man’s understand, and for awhile, it seems to work, but that’s the point, “awhile” always wears out and we find ourselves looking to the next fad or latest best seller. Today’s Church is doing all it can by doing all that it can, but look what Paul said, “for I know that in me dwells no good thing”. What the church today is doing is only surface and show, hoping God will honor their works and deliver them from their troubles or, even worse, overlook the sin in their life because of its performance and goodness. Many professing Christians say within themselves, “I am not that bad, I am a good person, I have never hurt anyone, I am not a thief or murder, my goods outweigh my bads, ect.” God did not give His life so you can live in your sin. He gave His life so you can be delivered from it, and be delivered from it today. I am not teaching sinless perfection, for we all will stumble and fall at times, especially when not understanding the “how-to-do the what-to-do”, God’s Way. We are born into this world with a Sin Nature and once we are Saved, by proper Faith, in the correct object of Faith, we can begin to get Victory over the Sin Nature, through the Power of God and the imputation of the Divine Nature. 2Pe 1:4 KJV - Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. All faith has something as its object, for most it is their performance and good works, but the only Faith God will honor is Faith anchored in His Son and His Shed Blood. As I said earlier, I know most professing Christians will claim that their faith is in the Cross, I did at one time to, but again that could not have been further from the truth. I was ignorant, and looking to what I was doing.
Gal 6:3, 8, 15-16 KJV - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. ... For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ... For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
These few verses say so much. If our faith is in our so called goodness and thinking we have more goods than bads, therefore God is pleased with me, we are sowing to the Flesh and are doomed to failure. But if we sow to the Spirit, meaning to anchor our Faith in the Cross, then we through the Power of the Spirit reap everlasting Life. Please understand, this everlasting life isn’t something we just wait for as we enter into Glory, but something we can experience today. By Faith we can begin living the Resurrection life today, Glory Hallelujah. And as Paul goes on to explain, it is not by the works of our own hands, circumcision being his example, but by the Finished Work of God Almighty. Therefore, as many as walk according to this rule, will have Peace, Peace with God, Reconciling Peace. od. The Life of God, imparted to those whose Faith is anchored in Calvary.
